Oxidation of Alcohols and Aldehydes using Molecular Oxygen 22.2.1. Ru-based catalysts [Pg.632]

A Ru cation combined with cobalt hydroxide and cerium oxide (RuCo(OH)2-Ce02 was developed by Kaneda and co-workers using a co-precipitation method. The obtained catalyst exhibited high catalytic activity for the oxidation of alcohols in the presence of molecular oxygen. It was found that a combination of Ru with Co and Ce elements is necessary to achieve high conversion levels. The addition of water enhanced the formation of carboxylic acids and the possible role of Co was to maintain the high oxidation state of Ru. [Pg.633]
