Western countries are failing in their factory implementations in Third World countries. Developing environments cannot seem to understand that profits are the key to success —or are they Production control methodologies that seem to be effective in the United States, Japan, or Europe have been disappointing. The search for the reasons behind this phenomenon has involved studies in numerous countries and factories. The problems revolve around several key differences  [Pg.104]

What we learned from our visits to developing countries came back to haunt us at home. Many of our own inefficiencies are simply magnified when we view them in these Third World environments. [Pg.104]

The standard answer for academics and consultants who do not know how to approach and deal with a particular production problem is to declare that not enough data exists to properly define and solve the problem.
