Analytical techniques need to be applied to a variety of sample types. Methods should be chosen which are applicable to individual particles, gases, liquid solution, and bulk materials such as soils and other solids. Many such techniques have been developed. Listed in Table 12.9 is a summary of those methods which have been utilized effectively for environmental sample analysis. Those techniques which are more highly recommended are so marked.
