Sulfones methyl

The addition of an ester sulfonate of an unsaturated fatty acid improves the rinsing properties in washing tests. A mixture of 50% sodium methyl a-sulfostearate and 50% sodium salt of sulfonated methyl oleate (30 70 mono-sulfonate/polysulfonate ratio) was used [83]. [Pg.489]

In soft cheeses, such as Brie, Camembert, and Limburger, the following sulfur compounds were implicated 3-(methylthio)propanol, MT, DMS, DMDS, DMTS, dimethyl tetrasulfide, methyl ethyl disulfide, diethyl disulfide, 2,4-dithiapentane, 3-methylthio-2,4-dithiapentane, methional, 2,4,5-trithiahex-ane, 1,1-fe-methylmercaptodisulfide, methyl thioacetate (=methanethiol acetate), benzothiazole, methylthiobenzothiazole, methyl ethyl sulfonate, methyl methane thiosulfonate, thiophene 2-aldehyde, and H2S.34 Many of these were only present in small amounts Limburger cheese was notable for 13.2% of DMDS, 0.5% of methyl thioacetate, and 0.8% of DMTS. [Pg.681]

For the addition of ethylene, EtOAc as solvent was particularly advantageous and gave 418 in 60% yield (Scheme 6.86). The monosubstituted ethylenes 1-hexene, vinylcyclohexane, allyltrimethylsilane, allyl alcohol, ethyl vinyl ether, vinyl acetate and N-vinyl-2-pyrrolidone furnished [2 + 2]-cycloadducts of the type 419 in yields of 54—100%. Mixtures of [2 + 2]-cycloadducts of the types 419 and 420 were formed with vinylcyclopropane, styrene and derivatives substituted at the phenyl group, acrylonitrile, methyl acrylate and phenyl vinyl thioether (yields of 56-76%), in which the diastereomers 419 predominated up to a ratio of 2.5 1 except in the case of the styrenes, where this ratio was 1 1. The Hammett p value for the addition of the styrenes to 417 turned out to be -0.54, suggesting that there is little charge separation in the transition state [155]. In the case of 6, the p value was determined as +0.79 (see Section 6.3.1) and indicates a slight polarization in the opposite direction. This astounding variety of substrates for 417 is contrasted by only a few monosubstituted ethylenes whose addition products with 417 could not be observed or were formed in only small amounts phenyl vinyl ether, vinyl bromide, (perfluorobutyl)-ethylene, phenyl vinyl sulfoxide and sulfone, methyl vinyl ketone and the vinylpyri-dines. [Pg.317]

Fatty acid methyl esters play a major role in the oleochemical industry. Methyl esters have increasingly replaced fatty acids as starting materials for many oleo-chemicals. They are used as chemical intermediates for a number of oleochemicals, such as fatty alcohols, alkanolamides, a-sulfonated methyl esters, and many more. One other potential use of methyl esters is as a substitute for diesel oil (14). Methyl esters are clean burning with no sulfur dioxide emission. Although the heat of combustion is shghtly lower, there is no engine adjustment necessary and there is no loss in efficiency. [Pg.2993]

Further to investigate this similarity between nitrates and sulfonates, methyl 4,6-0-benzylidene-(and -alkylidene)-a-D-glucoside 2,3-dinitrates were treated with sodium methoxide in methanoP under the conditions used for converting the 2,3-ditosylates into the 2,3-anhydro-a-D-allosides. Much degradation occurred, even at 0°, and a large proportion of nitrite was formed. The only products isolated were the 2- and 3-nitrates of methyl... [Pg.132]

Eschenmoser s group addressed this question with the carbanion 16 and its hexadeuterio counterpart 17, in which two separate methyl groups are labelled as CD3 and the carbanion brings about a concerted nucleophilic displacement, endocyclic or exocyclic, at a sulfonate methyl group. [Pg.130]

Two fluorimetric techniques have been described, the only essential difference between them being their sensitivity. One method employs vaso-flavine— a sulfonated methylated benzothiazole derivative (B14) which increases linearly in fluorescence in the presence of small amounts of albumin. [Pg.277]
