Subject silicon derivatives

Dwivedi and Arnold (89) determined the thiazole moiety in thiamine by derivatizing first to form the TMS analog. Samples were chromatographed on 3% OV-17 on Chromosorb G (DMCS treated) at 110°C. Vitamin D2 (calciferol) and its analog Vitamin have been the subject of many applications in GC analyses. The compounds have been derivatized as the TMS analog and chromatographed on OV-17 (90) and SE-30 (91) and on 3% silicone on Celite after treatment with antimony trichloride (92). Several references to vitamine E (oi-tocopherol) are included in the review by Kern et al. (39) on GLC determinations of pharmaceuticals and drugs. The acetate was determined on 3% OV-17 on Chrom W-HP at 280°C. Vecci and Kaiser (93) determined Vitamin C as the TMS derivative on 3% SE-30 or 10% XE-60 on Anachrom ABS. Column... [Pg.630]

The chemistry of silicon-nitrogen compounds has been the subject of considerable study, but little interest has been shown in organopolysilane derivatives of such type. Only a limited number of compounds have been... [Pg.41]

The chemistry of a class of organometallic compounds that contain a linkage between two different metallic and/or metalloidal elements has recently been the subject of considerable study (195, 207), but only very little interest has been shown in such compounds with the silicon-silicon-metal bond. Only a few derivatives of mercury and alkali metals are known. [Pg.45]

The utilization of SMA and their derivatives in a wide variety of synthetic transformations has exhibited considerable growth in recent years. The chemistry of BSMA and its derivatives has been extensively reviewed6 and that of SMA, as members of silylmethyl functional compounds,7 8 has been surveyed. Silylmethylamines have been known in the literature for almost 50 years since Speier9 and Sommer10 independently reported the first compounds of this type. These compounds have been the subject of nearly 1000 publications to date, including nearly 100 patents. For the first two decades after these initial reports, attention focused on the question of whether or not the nitrogen lone pair electrons interact with the silicon moiety. [Pg.177]

The failure of difluoramine to appear among the final products is not particularly surprising. In the presence of nitric acid and/or nitrogen oxides, it might easily be oxidized and may well constitute the source of the silicon tetrafluoride. The formation of a carbonium ion from trityl-difluoramine would be favored by resonance stabilization. In the tert-butyl case, on the other hand, this driving force is not present and formation of the ion would be expected to occur less readily. In addition, both the tert-butyl carbonium ion and the difluorammonium ion from which it is derived would be more subject to a variety of side reactions than the corresponding trityl species. [Pg.167]

Process Reaction and its application to the preparation of silicone precursors (6-9), plus a corresponding industrial preparative method for tetraal-kyllead compounds (10), spurred further investigations into the use of direct reactions between solid metals and liquid alkyl halides to synthesize alkylmetal derivatives, generating an extensive literature on this subject (3.4.11). [Pg.60]

Magnesium, like calcium, is subject to the effect of anions, although to a lesser degree. The most serious interference derives from refractory acidic oxides formed in the flame from a number of elements, particularly aluminum and silicon. The effect of phosphate and sulfate is much less marked than with calcium (Fig. 17), hut if aluminum or silicon is also present in the solutions, magnesium depression is much more severe than with either of these interfering agents alone. These interferences can be overcome by the addition of strontium, lanthanum, or calcium. Leithe and Hofer (L4, L5) showed that magnesium could be determined... [Pg.44]

All cationically polymerizable monomers can be potentially used in this process however, the main study has been focused so far on the most reactive oxirane and vinyl ethers [4], Alkoxysilane derivatives - the most common acid-sensitive monomers for the synthesis of siloxane materials through the use of sol-gel methods - were not used extensively. Only a few examples of their application in photo-activated cross-linking can be noted, mainly in co-reaction with oxirane sites [5]. Typically, alkoxysilanes are subjected to an acid- or base-catalyzed process involving hydrolysis of an =SiOR group and then condensation of the formed silanol with another molecule bearing an =SiOH or =SiOR function to give a siloxane linkage [6]. It was of interest to combine the properties of cross-linked silicone materials with the ones provided by sterically overloaded... [Pg.729]
