Shultz et al. (2002) in a multicenter, randomized, parallel group, placebo-controlled, and double bend trial showed that coenzyme Q10 slowed the functional decline seen in PD. Coenzyme Q10 was safe and well tolerated at dosage of up to 1200 mg/d. Less disability developed in subjects assigned to coenzyme Q10 regimen. 

Intervention studies usually measure relative or absolute risk. Analysis can either be done on (1) intention to treat, which compares outcome on the subjects assigned to each groups regardless of whether they continued with the intervention strategy, or (2) randomized treatment, which measures the outcome observed in the subjects being treated. The preferred method is intention to treat, which avoids bias that can arise from different levels of participation due to loss of follow-up (the loss of contact with subjects) however, the true effects of the intervention may sometimes be diminished. 

A 14-day lead-in period reduces the frequency of rash, and other effective interventions include antihistamines and a longer lead-in period (4 weeks) (22). In an attempt to reduce the rate of nevirapine-associated rash, 469 patients were randomly assigned to different schedules of induction therapy (23). Using a standard procedure, 19% developed a rash compared with 11, 8.6, and 7.7% in subjects assigned to a slowly escalating dose, concomitant administration of prednisone, or both. The rate of drug withdrawal was also reduced by a half using the new approaches. 

Standard uncertainties of lattice parameters are also reduced when the sample displacement was accounted for. Adding more Bragg reflections, i.e. those that are located above 20 = 51°, produces even lower standard deviations, but the resultant unit cell dimensions become biased by subjective assignments of Miller indices due to severe overlapping, which causes low accuracy in the observed peak positions.
