Structural mechanics analyses

Structural mechanics analyses are used to determined design variables such as displacements, forces, vibrations, buckling loads, and dynamic responses, including application of corresponding special areas of structural mechanics for simple structural elements. General purpose finite element programs such as NASTRAN are used for the structural analysis of complex structural shapes, large structures made from simple structural elements. And structural parts made from combinations of simple elements such as bars, rods and plates. [Pg.504]

Structural mechanics analysis indicates that the acceptable temperature difference between the primary temperatures from IHX outlets is about 40 K. Thermal hydraulics analysis indicates that with one module isolated in one loop, the temperature difference is 10 K at 90 % power. With 2 modules isolated, this temperature difference is 24 K at 67 % power. To achieve this, it is necessary to reduce the core flow (to 67 %) in proportion to the power as well as the sodium flow in the unaffected loop (50 %) as in the affected loop (50 %) The... [Pg.90]

Hydraulic tests to assess the flow distribution and measure vibration of tube bundle are carried out on a 60 degree sector model of SG (fig 13a). The velocity distribution measured in the inlet plenum was found matching with prediction of the 3D hydraulic calculations (fig 13b). Vibration measurements are carried out in the straight spans and expansion bend regions. Although the vibration level is found higher in the inlet span where cross flow takes place across the tube bundle, it is within the acceptable values based on structural mechanics analysis (fig 13c). [Pg.96]

From this point, MEP is coupled to cytidine triphosphate to produce 4-diphosphocytidyl-2C-methyl-D-erythritol (CDP-ME) in a reaction, which is catalyzed by 4-diphospho-cytidyl-2C-methyl-D-erythritol transferase (IspD) [2.7.7.60] (Scheme 5.2). IspD structure-mechanism analysis showed that a sequential mechanism applies with a Mg ion coordinating first, followed by CTP binding and then MEP [22]. The cytosine base portion of the substrate or the product is hydrogen bonded to Ala 14, Alai 5, Gly82, Asp 83, and Sep88 based on smdies conducted on product-bound cocrystal of IspD from E. coli [23]. [Pg.192]

Quantitative Structure-Reactivity Analysis of the Inclusion Mechanism by Cyclodextrins... [Pg.61]

Quantitative structure-reactivity analysis is one of the most powerful tools for elucidating the mechanisms of organic reactions. In the earliest study, Van Etten et al. 71) analyzed the pseudo-first-order rate constants for the alkaline hydrolysis of a variety of substituted phenyl acetates in the absence and in the presence of cyclodextrin. The... [Pg.82]

As shown above, quantitative structure-reactivity analysis is very useful in elucidating the mechanisms of cyclodextrin complexation and cyclodextrin catalysis. This method enables us to separate several intermolecular interactions, acting simultaneously,... [Pg.86]
