There is no immediately obvious disconnection of 17 but there is a strategic bond in 16 whose disconnection would make for a short synthesis. Now we have a new problem neither polarity of disconnection 16a is entirely satisfactory. We can easily think of reagents for 18 (Grignard reagent) or 20 (alkyl halide) but what about 19 and 21 Yet we persist with this strategy because the bond between the ring and the chain is strategic. 

Based on the updated use of prophylactic and therapeutic strategies in pneumoconiosis Gulu-MiAN (1999) thinks it unlikely that a single strategic approach will suffice for adequate treatment of the whole spectrum of mineral particle-induced pulmonary inflammation, fibrosis and carcinogenesis. Yu et al. (1995) presented a combined treatment of experimental sihcosis with tetrandrine plus polyvi-nylpyridine N-oxide or tetrandrine plus QOHP in rats. 

A key question for purchasing executives is which model is superior. Perhaps companies should think more strategically about their supplier management and choose more diversified approaches and not a one size fits all strategy (Dyer et al. 1998).
