The DOT regulations also stipulate that prior to manufacture of cylinders of new design, or with substantially modified design, prototype cylinders... [Pg.378]

Eor CD-DA (CD-digital audio) and CD-ROM including all variants, a CD-modified BPA-PC is used exclusively. BPA-PC is stipulated in the specifications for CD-DA. [Pg.163]

All these standards have since been adopted by the member countries as their national standards, fully or in slightly modified forms, to suit their own requirements and working conditions. These standards define and clarify the quality norms and aim at in-house quality disciplines, to automatically and continually produce a product, provide a service or programme to the stipulated specifications, quality norms and customer needs. They guarantee a product or service with a minimum quality. The envisaged quality systems thus aim at a work culture that pervades all those involved in different key activities or processes, to achieve the desired goal through carefully evolved systems. [Pg.248]

In the presence of wastewater minimization, the sequence constraints initially presented in Chapter 2 are modified as follows. The following constraints stipulates that the task corresponding to state s n. can only commence once all the previous tasks and their corresponding washing operations are complete. [Pg.133]

The modified method of crystal coating was used to assess Candida spp. The choice of the pathogen was stipulated by the growing importance of this microorganism in the development and maintenance of various pathological conditions, and the lack of quick and reliable methods to identify Candida spp. in practical laboratories. [Pg.110]

Whereas the quantum-mechanical molecular Hamiltonian is indeed spherically symmetrical, a simplified virial theorem should apply at the molecular level. However, when applied under the Born-Oppenheimer approximation, which assumes a rigid non-spherical nuclear framework, the virial theorem has no validity at all. No amount of correction factors can overcome this problem. All efforts to analyze the stability of classically structured molecules in terms of cleverly modified virial schemes are a waste of time. This stipulation embraces the bulk of modern bonding theories. [Pg.117]

Modified Stipules.—In some plants such as the Locust and several other trees and shrubs of the Legume family, the stipules become modified for defensive purposes as spines or prickles. In the Sarsaparilla-yielding plants and other species of the genus Smilax they undergo modification into tendrils which are useful in climbing. [Pg.169]

Ten dril.—A modified stem, stipule, leaf, or leaflet which has taken on the form of a slender appendage that is capable of coiling spirally around some object. [Pg.437]

Batch Dryers If the batch size is stipulated, the requirement is simply that the dryer be able to physically contain the volume of the solids, and the dryer volume and dimensions can thus be calculated directly. Solids residence time must then be calculated. Equation (12-61) can be reversed and modified to give... [Pg.1372]

For a system in which the only force acting is that due to the external pressure, the condition of equilibrium is given by equation (25.39) as dFr. p = 0. When surface forces are significant, however, it is not difficult to show that this result must be modified by stipulating constant surface area, in addition to constant temperature and pressure, so that for equilibrium... [Pg.243]

The WEA has been modified subsequently. The first and most significant reform in 1994 transposed the requirements of the Framework Directive provisions on risk assessment. The main idea of the 1994 version of the WEA was to put greater emphasis on a systematic approach to OHS. The employer s responsibility to develop and pumue an OHS policy was extended by a requirement that such a policy be based on a thorough risk assessment and be moulded into a plan of action. In the case of risk assessment, amendments were made to Article 4 of the 1980 WEA. As of January 1 1994 Article 4, Section 1, stipulated ... [Pg.298]

The active fracture model for unsaturated flow through fractured rocks proposed by Liu et al. (1998) was used to modify flow through fractures. This model is based on the hypothesis that only a portion of connected fractures is active in conducting water. The hypothesis stipulates that (i) all connected fractures are active if the system is fully saturated, (ii) all fractures are inactive if the system is at residual saturation, and (iii) the fraction of fractures that is active is related to water flux through the fractures. Liu et al. (1998) proposed that the fraction of active fractures be a power function of effective water saturation in connected fractures. [Pg.176]

Modification of electrodes with LPFs occurs by the process shown in Fig. 1. The only stipulation on the electrode is that it contains a permanent charge on its surface, for example, gold electrodes modified with an ionizable self-assembled mono-layer. As would be expected, the presence of a layered polyelectrolyte on an electrode surface often decreases Faradaic currents when the polyelectrolyte is not electroactive. In the case of PAH/PSS films prepared in the presence of 0.5 M supporting electrolyte, cyclic voltammo-grams of Fe(CN)6 at gold electrodes show minimal current after the deposition of 3 bilayers (Fig. 3) [29]. Similar trends occur with positively charged redox couples such as Ru(NH3)6 and Os(bpy)3 + [29,... [Pg.6420]

Acrylic polymers are polymers that are received through interaction of polyatomic alcohols, phenols and acrylic acid. The presence of one or more isolated binary bonds stipulates for their high reaetionary ability. Properties of the received polymers depend on the nature of substances, entering into ehemieal reactions. To get materials with wide range of properties one can modify components, for example, via mixing acrylic acid with unsaturated aliphatic or aromatic bibasic carbon acids. As a result, we get acrylic polymers of different forms and structure. [Pg.93]
