The list of grounds for exemption from a prescription charge in the United Kingdom is extensive. The social grounds are low income, children below the age of 16 years, people in full-time education up to 19 years of age, pregnant women and women in the puerperium following either a live or still birth, old age (women over 60, men over 65, but since October 1995 men over 60) and war pensioners.

Artesunate and artemether were well tolerated and there was no drug-related adverse effect. Overall, 73 pregnancies resulted in live births, three in abortions and two in still-births five women were lost to follow-up before delivery. There was no congenital abnormality in any of the neonates, and the 46 children followed for more than 1 year all developed normally. 

However, a further study of 208 pregnant women on the Thai-Burmese border showed a significantly increased incidence of still-births compared with 1565 women treated with other antimalarial drugs (51). Other adverse effects were no more common than with other antimalarial drugs. The study was performed during a period of emerging mefloquine-resistant malaria, and the findings may also reflect the effect of suboptimal malaria treatment. 

Women in iodine-deficient areas face increased demands for iodine during both pregnancy and lactation, which results in exaggerated iodine loss over years and consequently causes goiter. Most often, goiter continues after pregnancies cease, and in later years it may become multinodular. Iodine deficiency may also make the mother hypothyroid, with associated complications of anovulation, infertility, gestational hypertension, increased first-trimester abortion, abnormal fetal positions and still births. Further, hypothyroidism, infertility and fetal loss... 

Teratogen exposure can cause birth defects, miscarriage, still births, and fetotoxicity a dose of 12 mg/kg can canse fetal death in mice...

Reproductive System. Severe exposure to lead has been associated with sterility, abortion, still births, and neonatal deaths [25], although there are no epidemiologic data [77]. Women working in lead industries were found to have a higher rate of ovulatory dysfunction, and men with moderately increased lead absorption were found to have decreased fertility.
