Sticking with short forms

Kiippers and co-workers have successfully used the random walk form to reproduce the behavior observed on Cu(l 11), Pt(lll) and Ni(l 0 0) [26]. They demonstrate that the different behaviors with regard to the short time (pre-saturation) HD formation rates can be explained in terms of the relative rates of hot atom reaction and sticking. We have used our kinetic equations to derive approximate analytical expressions for initial reaction rates and product yields as a function of the initial surface coverage, and these have compared well with the experimental findings of the Kiippers group [37]. [Pg.68]

The process time is determined by the technical parameters heatup, application, and cooling It is very short compared to the process times of reactive adhesives. Processing is done with so-called sticks, spreadable powders, extrusions, nets, or films. Hotmelt adhesives in the form of films in particular are among the heat-activated or heat seal adhesives. In film and textile composites the term used is laminate adhesives. [Pg.248]

Polyisobutene with a terminal amino group is extremely efficient to clean the inner surfaces of cylinders in motors of cars. If this polymer is added in minute amounts to gasoline, it is sprayed into the cylinders in the form of tiny droplets upon evaporation of the gasoline. Here it forms a molecular film on the metal surface, which prevents the formation of deposits. The polymer film sticks for a short time and then moves slowly to the burning room, where it is de-... [Pg.117]

Mouthwashes usually are solutions of active substances in water or aqueous solvents so the water soluble form of the active substance is chosen. For corticosteroids this would mean an aqueous solution of a phosphate ester. When rinsing with such a solution the contact time would be too short to obtain a sufficient therapeutic effect of the corticosteroid [1]. As a viscous suspension sticks to the oral mucosa, the active substance can work for a longer period of time. Therefore a (viscous) suspension is to be preferred. In addition such a suspension has the advantage that the bitter taste of the corticosteroid is less pronounced. An example is a suspensimi with hydrocortisone acetate, lidocaine and dexpanthenol (Table 7.1). [Pg.133]
