Stereoscopic imaging

While even relatively simple techniques can dramatically improve contrast ( ), perhaps it is the exotic new methods, such as those for producing "live" stereoscopic images at near-micron resolution (49.501. or the Allen Video Enhanced Contrast system (44.451. which typify the explosive growth in the zuicient science of visible microscopy. Although the focus has been on biosystems, there is no reason why these technologies cannot be... [Pg.13]

Figure 11.3 Parallel-eye stereoscopic image of a model of the complete VS ribozyme (Lipfert et al., 2008). The model was constructed by connecting previously defined helical sections of a low-resolution model fitting the density map shown in Fig 11.2. Energy-minimization refinement against the standard stereochemical restraints was used to regularize and refine the structure. The scissile phosphate is shown as a sphere, and the probable active site components A756 and G638 are annotated. In LCD glasses each lens consists of small liquid crystal screens, so each eye is able to visualize one of the two stereoscopic images. With LCD glasses the quality of the 3D illusion is superior, though this method is still expensive. [Pg.78]

Two stereoscopic images can be acquired by using the slider with the rotated camera. The separated distance of the cameras from the slider can be calculated exactly because they are... [Pg.274]

Stereoscopic images were taken, as shown in Photographs 6 and 7, and we created as geological map like Figure 5, with the rock joints written and... [Pg.276]

We selected a survey method using stereoscopic images because it was difficult to measure rock joints in high places. We also could conduct a slope stability analysis and establish stabilization measures in the failed large scale slope using the obtained strikes and dips of rock joints by stereophotogrammetry. [Pg.278]

Autostereoscopic displays [36] can generate stereoscopic images and form 3-D perception without the viewer wearing special glasses. [Pg.546]

After primary axial slices, we perform coronal reconstructions in a semicircle along the curve of the jaw. We may also create oblique reconstructions in selected cases. Additionally, in most of these cases we use stereoscopic images and document them in the cranial, caudal, and both lateral views. All images are stored on a CD, and the most important are printed. The additional views on the CD allow the interested orthodontist to work out further positions individually. [Pg.173]

The microhardness of coatings was 18-19 GPa for molybdenum carbide [6], 29-31 GPa for tungsten carbide, and 31-32 GPa for zirconium diboride. The presence of a diffusion zone that ensured the adhesion of coatings to the substrate, was confirmed by qualitative and semiquantitative X-ray spectral microanalyses of microsections which were performed with a MS-46 Cameca electronic probe. The continuity of the coating-substrate transition was confirmed by stereoscopic images of the cross-sections of the electroplated samples. [Pg.299]
