Typical bracket designs are shown in Figures 13.32a and b. The loads which steel brackets with these proportions will support are given by the following formula ... [Pg.857]

In the BMW X5, EPP is used to reduce mass by eltmrnattng the need for a secondary steel floor pan under the rear seat The company adopted an unconventional design that uses just a thin steel bracket for supporting a thick but light molded... [Pg.202]

Placing a protuberance such as concrete bock or steel bracket at superstructure or substructure as shown in Fig. 7(b). [Pg.211]

In order to install these devices, steel bolts are anchored in existing concrete pier/abutment by use of epoxy resin, as shown in Fig. 8. The minimum thickness of steel bracket is 22mm and the length of bore hole is 15 times more than diameter of anchoring rebar. Two types of epoxy resins, namely liquid resin and grease type resin, as shown in Table 1 are used for the anchoring. [Pg.212]

As shown in Fig. 7, in these devices a buffer is attached on the concrete block or steel bracket to moderate the impact due to earthquake. Rubber is regularly used as buffer, and trials have been done to also use thermosetting polyester elastomer [5]. [Pg.213]

In the case of the concrete girder shown in Fig. 7 (a), the steel bracket is installed on the steel plates attached on the girder surface as illustrated in Fig. 11. The same liquid epoxy resin applied for... [Pg.213]

Steel bracket, which is fixed by anchor bolts to the top surface of abutment, is utilized as an unseating-prevention device. A shock absorbing chain connected between the steel bracket at bottom of girder and that of vertical front wall of concrete abutment is also adopted in order to avoid the bridge falling. Injected liquid epoxy resin is effective to fix the anchor bolts in horizontally bored hole. [Pg.214]

Steel brackets. As seen in Fig. 9, the polymer-based archwire has an esthetic appeal and is much more difficult to recognize compared to the metal brackets. [Pg.159]

Where this structure supports slabs in the annulus, care has be taken to insure minimum resistance from these slabs by the use of expansion joints between the cylinder wall and the slabs. In addition, low friction bearing pads have been used under the slab support steel at the steel brackets on the primary containment wall to insure that there is essentially no interaction between the primary and secondary containment. [Pg.342]
