State-owned enterprises employment

CIEs are directed at private-sector employers who have registered with the UNEDIC (see above), that is, unemployment insurance. But state-owned enterprises (entreprises nationales) as well as employer associations set up for the purpose of reintegration are permitted to conclude such contracts. [Pg.100]

At the same time, employment in state-owned enterprises has declined sharply, 37%. [Pg.137]

Beijing hoped that its FIE policies and support of private enterprise would help to pick up the unemployed that were sure to follow from the decline of non-competitive state-owned companies. If we can judge by these data, it seems they have met with at least partial success on this score as well. Total private sector and TVE employment in 2003 exceeded employment losses in the state-owned sector by some 30 million, not a trivial number even in China. [Pg.137]

Workplace risk assessment can be defined as a systematic procedure for analysing workplace components to identify and evaluate hazards and safety characteristics (Harms-Ringdahl 2001). Due to EU regulation (Council Directive 89/391/EEC) each member state of the European Union has to establish national legislation to demand risk assessment procedures in enterprises of all sizes. In Estonia, the Act on Occupational Health and Safety that requires risk assessment at the every workplace was adopted in 1999. Workplace risk assessment has to be conducted by the employers using their own resources or by registered practitioners in occupational health (Occupational Health and Safety Act 1999). [Pg.54]
