Stakeholder/system collaboration

The importance of the concept of trust case stakeholder and collaborative development of a trust cases became evident while applying our approach to complex e-Health applications. It seems to be even more important if we consider IT infrastructures supporting for instance electricity distribution where we face the problem of distributed responsibility and ownership of the system. 

The paper introduced the concept of trust case and explained how it can be used to justify trustworthiness of IT systems or services. It discussed where the evidence supporting trust comes from and the role of ontologies in decomposing trust objectives. Then the concept of trust case stakeholder was introduced and the need for collaborative trust case development was emphasized. Finally, the present tool supporting the development of trust cases was briefly characterized. 

During the development of REACH the EU Commission held extensive dialog with stakeholders before and after the proposal was presented. Stakeholders sent over 6000 responses during the REACH Internet consultation and contributed to the REACH Impact Assessment both before and after the launch of the Commission REACH proposal in 2003,75 One of the purposes of the collaboration was to help the EU Commission improve the design and cost effectiveness of the system. 

Stakeholders need to understand the advantages and limitations of syndromic surveillance systems. Syndromic surveillance systems might enhance collaboration among public health agencies, health-care providers, information-systems professionals, academic investigators, and industry. However, syndromic surveillance does not replace traditional public health surveillance, nor does it substitute for direct physician reporting of unusual or suspect cases of public health importance [33, 34],... 

The CPSI was established in 2003 after inputs from various Canadian health care professional organizations and federal, provincial, and territorial ministries of health [10]. It is an independent organization and promotes solutions and collaboration among governments and stakeholders to improve patient safety. The main areas of improvemenf are education, commuiucation, system innovation, regulatory affairs, and research.

Collaboration and interoperability between stakeholders and system components from different domains, especially hardware, software and services. 

Sustainability is achieved in communities and supported by numerous infrastructure systems, rather than in individual infrastructure systems in isolation. Building sustainable communities requires involvement of stakeholders, users, and producers of the various systems, with new paradigms of collaboration, bold approaches to innovative solutions, and integration of infrastructure systems.
