The assay has been validated and the results of validation demonstrate that the standard curve is linear over the concentration range of 100-2000 ng/mL. The assay is reproducible and accurate, with recovery of the analyte and internal standard in the range of 80-90 %. The analysis requires 0.5 mL of plasma and has a limit of quantification of 70 ng/mL. The stability of plasma samples stored at -20 °C has been demonstrated for up to 12 weeks. Autoinjector stability has been demonstrated for over 13 h and freeze-thaw stability has been demonstrated for 3 freeze-thaw cycles. The procedure has a sample throughput of at least 30 specimens per day. The assay meets the guidelines for bioanalytical methods validation for human studies (Shah et al. 1991). [Pg.642]

Kinetic analysis of luminol-dependent chemiluminescence demonstrated that a solution of berbamine (20 pM) was found to inhibit the generation of various types of reactive oxygens by guinea-pig neutrophils. The results of these and other experiments suggest that berbamine inhibits the active oxygen generation via the stabilization of plasma membrane and the inhibition of phospholipid-dependent protein kinase (PKC) and NADPH oxidase activation [178]. [Pg.120]

As previously mentioned, surface properties of a substrate can be tailored by applying various plasma treatments. The stability of plasma treatment is dependent on the material properties. For instance, for PDMS, oxygen plasma-treated surfaces regain their hydrophobicity over time. This may be due to ... [Pg.2787]

The plasma treatment also reduced the water absorption of the composite by a factor of 3 and converted it from capillary (wicking along the fiber-matrix interface) to Pick s law absorption through the body of the matrix. The rate of water absorption in the composite was less than it was in a block of neat epoxy the same size as the composite. The difference in absorption rate was the same as the volume fraction of epo in the composite. This change in absorption mechanism would predict that there should be a great improvement in the hydrothermal stability of plasma treated composites. [Pg.263]

The concentration of magnesium in the body is 250mg/kg. The daily requirement is 300-400 mg. In a normal diet, the daily intake is 300-500 mg. As a constituent and activator of many enzymes, particularly those associated with the conversion of energy-rich phosphate compounds, and as a stabilizer of plasma membranes, intracellular membranes, and nucleic acids, magnesium is a life-supporting element. Because of its indispensable role in body metabolism, magnesium deficiency causes serious disorders. [Pg.424]

Iwase and Ono (73) tested the stability of plasma ascorbic acid after depro-teinization with small hydroxyapatite cartridges and addition of L-cysteine as stabilizator. They found that in protein-free plasma, ascorbic acid with L-cysteine was stable for 30 min at room temperature and at least for 24 hours at - 20°C. Without deproteinization, stored at -20°C for 24 hours, plasma ascorbic acid decreased by 79%. [Pg.291]
