Spout cap

Safety Cans Safety cans contain 5 gallons or less of flammable liquids. They are intended for moving fluid to the point of use. They have several safety features. The spout caps close automatically after tilting or pouring. They have a pressure relief valve to vent vapor. They have a flame arrester in the spout. In the event of a flame on the outside, the arrester absorbs heat and prevents the flame from passing to the inside of the can. Safety cans have leak-resistant designs. 

If a preparation is dosed in drops rather than millilitres, the bottle has to be equipped with a pipette, or a dropper cap, or a dropper insert, or a spout cap. The Ph. Eur. describes requirements with regards to the dose and the reproducibility... 

A spout cap is a dropping mechanism on top of the neck of the bottle. The most frequently used spout cap is the Zentrop dropper. This consists of a chlorobutyl mbber dropper mounted in a polypropylene screw cap and closed with a small polypropylene cap. In case of incompatibility of the liquid with the chlorobutyl rubber a Zentrop cap with a pol5q)ropylene dropper can be used.

Making caps, closures, and spouts on HDPE bottles compatible with the bottles, ensuring that any aluminum seals used on plastic bottles pull off completely when the bottle is opened by the consumer...

Clean fuel and good mixing procedures are a must. I ve found that a five-gallon, plastic container with an internal, fine-screen spout and capped vent is the best. Metal containers tend to generate water from condensation and rust when not kepi completely full. 

The storage assemblies were used to hold gasoline, and catastrophic cracking occurred after an undetermined time in use. The spouts were comprised of an injection molded polyethylene spout integrated with a blow molded tank body. A separate mating cap is screwed onto the spout, such that the cap does not bottom out on the tank surface. The spouts are specified to be injection molded from Alathon M 5370, a high density polyethylene resin from Equistar. In addition to the two failed tank sections, a spout, which had not been molded into a gasoline tank, was also evaluated for reference purposes.
