Resins high-density polyethylene

Celanese enjoys the major share of the merchant plastic milk bottles business in the United States because of this engineered high-density polyethylene resin.

Samples were prepared from a commercially available DiiPont Alathon high density polyethylene resin. This resin was hot pressed at l8o C between two sheets of aluminum foil. The pressing operation was conducted twice to insure uniform films. 

Composites of banana, hemp, and agave with high-density polyethylene resin were separately prepared in different ratios 60 40, 55 45, 50 50, and 45 55 (wt/wt). These fibers were also treated with maleic anhydride, and the effect of maleic anhydride on surface resistivity and volume resistivity of wood polymer composites was studied. The surface resistivity decreased with an increase in fiber content in the composites, while volume resistivity increased. The maximum surface resistivity and volume resistivity were observed in the untreated banana fiber composite, while minimum surface resistivity and volume resistivity were found in the maleic anhydride-treated agave fiber composite. The decrement in volume resistivity and surface resistivity was due to the increase in cross-linking between the polymer and fiber by treatment with maleic anhydride.

The list of flexible polymeric roll materials suitable for atmospheric plasma processing is expansive. Some extruders are equipped to handle damp polyethylene, drying the raw product concurrently with exUmsion. The product is extruded as thin strands that are chopped into pellets to form high density polyethylene resin o, which is then ready for packaging and shipping in a manner common to other polyethylene resins.

It is very diffieult to eliminate internal haze in high density polyethylene resins because the wavelengths of light span a range that overlaps broadly with that of the spherulitie diameters. The short-chain branching in linear low density polyethylene reduces the level of crystallinity and the size of the spherulites and consequently reduces the level of haze relative to that of unbranched resins. The storage assemblies were used to hold gasoline, and catastrophic cracking occurred after an undetermined time in use. The spouts were comprised of an injection molded polyethylene spout integrated with a blow molded tank body. A separate mating cap is screwed onto the spout, such that the cap does not bottom out on the tank surface. The spouts are specified to be injection molded from Alathon M 5370, a high density polyethylene resin from Equistar. In addition to the two failed tank sections, a spout, which had not been molded into a gasoline tank, was also evaluated for reference purposes.
