Spatial cross talk

To examine the spatial localizations of the short- and mid-wavelength components without the effect of cross talk, we performed PARAFAC with two components for a data set at a wavelength range up to 605 nm. We named the two components extracted by PARAFAC as Components I and II, respectively. The fluorescence spectra of Components I and II are in agreement with those of Components I and II in a wavelength region lower than 605 nm. Further, the time profiles of Components I and II correspond well to those of Components I and II (data not shown). The spatial localizations of Components I and II are shown in Figure 32.13d and e. The... [Pg.356]

SPD. The spectral resolution of an SPD is governed by the same factors discussed for the SIT, i.e., it depends on the grating/spectrometer combination. The spatial resolution is degraded by a degree of diode-to-diode cross-talk, i.e., it is... [Pg.14]

With the SPD, the minimum useful slit width is set by the 25 um center-to-center spacing of the individual diodes. However, the very architecture of the diode array promotes a certain degree of signal cross-talk between adjacent diodes since any charge generated between them could be read out by either one. Also, in each measured spectral window only a few lines will be perfectly centered on a single diode others will fall on portions of two adjacent diodes. As a result, the actual spatial resolution of the SPD is approximately 38 to 50 um, whereas the PMT-spectometer... [Pg.104]

Setting aside the ethical objections to ooplasmic transfer there are still some difficult technical considerations. Egg cells are subject to natural selection. Of the 7 million eggs that develop in the female foetus, only a few hundred ever come close to ovulation in sexual maturity one in 20000. The basis of this selection is shrouded in mystery, but there seems to be a sophisticated cross-talk between the nucleus and the mitochondria, which is even influenced by the spatial distribution of mitochondria within the egg. Essentially, if the mitochondria aren t right, the egg never makes it. [Pg.336]

Cross talk must be minimized. As the number of qubits increases, the potential for errors due to unwanted coupling between qubits also increases. Spatially localized qubits could minimize this type of error. [Pg.105]

Carbohydrates and carbohydrate-binding proteins, or lectins, are present on the cell surface and within the extracellular matrix, and their expressions are controlled both spatially and temporally during embryo development [1-3]. The cross-talk between glycosylated molecules and lectins is important for the harmonious embryo development, not only in cellular recognition phenomena but also as an intermediate in transduction of various signals depending on the developmental stage. [Pg.2005]
