Southern California Gas Company s entrance into the age of electronic measurement is discussed. Prototype installations at their four out-of-state purchase points have been installed and are operating. The measurement stations are located in the California Mojave desert where temperatures may vary by as much as 50°F to 60°F or more on a daily basis and seasonably by more than 100°F. On-site energy measurement equipment has been installed at these locations and it is assumed that if the equipment will operate satisfactorily at these locations, it will operate anywhere. Plaimed future installations, and their inherent... [Pg.284]

The author thanks Gil Addis (EPRI), Ralph Komai (Southern California Gas Company), and Walt Weyzen (EPRI) for helpful discussions and guidance. [Pg.183]

It is intended to install on-site energy measurement at all of Southern California Gas Compare utility electric generating plants as well as its wholesale customers (approximately 30 locations). Currently, however, only four pilot installations are in and operating and these are at our own facilities. They are located at Blythe, Needles, and Newberry Springs, the points where we measure the gas we purchase from El Paso Natural Gas Company and Transwestem Pipeline Compaity, our major out-of-state suppliers. These locations are all in the Mojave Desert and it is believed that if the eqiripment will operate under these severe conditions, it will operate anyv/here. Temperatures at these locations may vary on a daily basis by as much... [Pg.284]

For example, it took only two years for Kem River Gas Transmission Company to plan and construct its 1.27 billion 2003 Expansion Project to add 906 million cubic feet per day (approximately 26 million cubic meters per day) of gas pipeline capacity between the Rockies and Southern California. The project was announced on March 22, 2001 and completed on May 1, 2003. [Pg.53]

A company (Naitove, 2012) in Southern California uses gas turbines to generate in-house some of the electrical energy used to run its plastic processing operation. The waste heat from boilers was recovered and used in the crystallizer/dryer unit to condition the PET resin prior to sheet extrusion. No additional electric heating was therefore needed for the purpose, resulting in energy as well as cost savings. [Pg.48]

In motivating consumers and contractors to use cool roof technology, some energy companies have started to offer monetary incentives. In some zones of California, the Pacific Gas And Electric Company and Southern California Edison are offering rebates for cool roofs [24, 25]. Other rebate programs exist in Idaho,... [Pg.486]
