Sources of further information and recommendations

The following are key concepts to improve geosynthetic manufacturing technology for further use by the geosynthetics community. 

Carbon and graphite are related to geosynthetics in that they can be generated from polymers. Geomembrane manufacturers have three-layer extruders and a few have five-layer extruders suited for the technology. 

Five-layer geomembranes offer a better opportunity for customizing colors (for example) for owners and for better awareness. 

Multilayer extruded barrier products are not new, so a technology base exists. 

New materials will be involved, which will bring new participants and new applications to the industry.
