Solids mixing textured mixtures

Initially the fats and sugar are mixed together to produce a light textured mixture. This process is known as creaming. The time this takes is very dependent on the mixer used and the form of the fat, e.g. solid fat or bakery margarine, but 10 min usually suffices. The batter can be controlled by mixing to a specified specific gravity. [Pg.228]

The aim of this work is to test and to compare the performances of various nitrogen adsorption-desorption isotherms analysis methods. These models were applied to model samples obtained by mechanically mixing two micro- and mesoporous solids respectively in perfectly known proportions. The relevant morphological characteristics of the porous texture of the mixtures, such as the specific surface and volume, are physically additive. A criterion that allows determining the reliability of the analysis methods tested is thus to check the linearity of the relation between a given parameter and the weight percentage of the pure solids. [Pg.419]

There is an extensive literature devoted to the preparation of oxide and mixed-oxide catalysts. These compounds are often derived from hydroxides, though alternative processes are available, e.g., calcination of metals, oxalates etc. Some of the studies referred to above were undertaken to add to the understanding of the textural changes which accompany water removal during the preparation of catalytically-active phases of technological importance. Heating of mixed hydroxides, prepared by concurrent precipitation, yields spinels and other specific phases, including solid solutions, at lower temperatures than is possible with less-intimate mixtures. The... [Pg.282]

Concepts Common household chemicals have different physical and chemical properties. Chemicals undergo changes in form, color, or texture when they are mixed together, separated, or heated. Some chemicals can be identified by their interaction with water, vinegar, iodine, red cabbage juice, and heat. Different types of mixtures, such as solutions or suspensions, are created when solids are combined with water. Evaporation and filtration are methods for separating mixtures of solids and liquids. Some chemicals can be classified as acids, bases, or neutral substances by their reactions with red cabbage juice. Observations... [Pg.14]

Particle size Chocolate is a liquid during the mixing process. The cocoa butter in the melted chocolate coats the solid particles of cocoa, sugar, and milk solids. The solid particles in the mixture must not be too large, or the chocolate will have a gritty texture. Generally, the particles are ground to a maximum diameter of 2.0 x 10 to 3.0 X 10-5 m. [Pg.431]

Molten salt chemistry can be a source of new kind of interactions between an active phase and a support. We have shown here that the reactivity of a mixture of precursor salts in molten nitrates leads in a one-step process to the synthesis of new solids with excellent textural properties. These solids present all the characteristics for catalytic applications [8], they can be used either as catalysts by themselves or as supports since free space remains at the surface of the solid [9]. Moreover, the preparation method may involve several species and mixed phases may be grafted at the surface of zirconia [10]. This work gives an exemple of the fascinating potential of molten salt medium for the preparation of catalysts. [Pg.280]
