Design of innovative natural ventilation systems such as systems with solar towers, glazed double facades, facades with passive shaft ventilation or with some means of heat recovery... 

On account of their insensitivity to solar radiation, some polyester resins are particularly suitable for weather-resistant topcoats (e.g.. facade claddings, blades of shutters and Venetian blinds, vehicle claddings, metal signs). Melamine-formulated paints are economical and have a well-balanced property profile. Polyurethane-formulated paints have an even better processability and weather resistance (colorfastness, chalking resistance) [2.92],... 

Modern developments in the dyestuff and pigment sector are luster pigments, IR-reflectors for house facades and windows, light-harvesting systems for solar collectors and light-emitting diodes in the electronic industry (Fig. 2.3). 

Of course, there are many more possibilities than the examples shown. They just focus on the theme in general and may be helpful for the discussion of future building systems. Other examples of materials include pneumatic systems or even fibre-reinforced materials, hybrid materials that combine different elements for additional functions. In the future, for example, windows may be used not only to obtain daylight, but also as solar collectors, as media facades, and as flexible facades with different properties for summer and winter.
