Suppliers of computer systems and associated services must be managed to assure that the software, hardware, and/or related services they supply are fit for purpose. Enhancements and modifications to computer systems and associated documentation must be implemented under change control and, where appropriate, configuration management. Changes affecting the validated status of a computer system must be approved before they are implemented. 

Are change control procedures in place to manage changes to network hardware, firmware and software, including impact assessment of any application affected by change ... 

Successful software systems always evolve as the environment in which these systems operate changes and stakeholder requirements change. Therefore, managing change is a fundamental activity in RE. 

L.7.1.3.5 The manufacturer should have a documented quality control system in place, governing aspects such as software revision changes and communication of potential performance issues to users (example ISO 9001 2008). The lEC certification process shall cover the quality control system and should ensure management-of-change processes are in place. 

Every time technology transitions, a different set of capabilities and limitations is offered. Eor instance, software may be available on one platform but not another. Each technology change requires careful planning and project management to ensure that there is no disruption to the organization and no loss of data. 

By the nature of its interdisciplinary nature, functional genomics is almost invariably a collaborative effort at distinct locations. A practical approach to the data management of such projects that we follow is to localize all data in one server and allow all collaborators to access it remotely, conveniently through a web browser without having to install specialized software. This also allows access by third parties, after public release of the data sets. In fact, these massive data sets cannot be published in the traditional way. One leaves the data out of journal articles and merely indicates there how to access the data directly from this system. Functional genomics is changing even the sociology of science ...
