Ceramics, like NASICON (sodium super ionic conductor) prepared by the sol-gel method, were found to give selective potentiometric response toward various cations. Selectivity is provided by the... [Pg.2346]

It is the purpose of this paper to suggest a simple model for the metal-super ionic conductor interphase which can explain some of the experimental observations which have been made on these systems. The model is essentially a refinement of one discussed earlier (1). Super ionic conductors are taken to be (typically) sodium 3 Al203 and Agi+Rbl5, i.e. solids which have very high ionic conductivities (up to 10 0. cm" ), negligible electronic conductivities and very high concentrations of mobile species ( 10 mol 1" ). In what follows it will be assumed initially that the solid consists of immobile anions and cations which are all equivalent and all mobile. [Pg.261]

Materials of composition Nai+ Zr2P3 Si (Oi2 (0 < X < 3) are known as Na super-ionic conductors (NASICON) and also have potential application in sodium/ sulfur batteries. They comprise solid solutions of NaZr2(P04)3 (the host lattice) and Na4Zr2(Si04)3. The... [Pg.1035]

As discussed in Chapter 5, LiFeP04 is a widely used phosphate positive electrode. In this section, other kinds of phosphates, mostly based on LiMnP04, are discussed. The complex phosphate Li3Fe2(P04)3 has a sodium (Na) Super Ionic CONductor (NASICON) structure. The cyclic voltammogram ( ) curve shows two plateaus during the charge and discharge processes, at 2.80 and 2.65 V, with a reversible capacity of up to 1.5-1.6 Li per unit. Since very little is known about this material, it will not be discussed further. [Pg.131]
