Sodium glycerophosphate

A representative example of the effect of phosphorus given as sodium glycerophosphate is shown on Table I. Increasing the phosphorus Intake from 800 mg to 2000 mg per day during a normal calcium Intake of approximately 850 mg per day resulted in a decrease of the urinary calcium from 301 mg to 179 mg per day, the stool calcium increased slightly and the calcium balance became somewhat more positive.

This work was later expanded to include a larger crown ether system functionalized with either the above-mentioned cyclene macrocycle (2), two cyclene macrocycles (4), or a triazacyclononane macrocycle (3) [32]. Unfortunately, the Cu-32+ complex did not display any appreciable affinity for the phosphate species (NaH2P04, KH2P04, sodium glycerophosphate, or disodium 4-nitrophenylphosphate).

Acid and alkaline phosphatases are enzymes contained in the blood and are active in acid and alkaline solution, respectively. The substrate used for their analysis is sodium glycerophosphate, at the appropriate pH. These enzymes hydrolyze the substrate to release phosphate. Other phosphate substrates can be used.

Testis cells of the rainbow trout were homogenized in 2.2 M sucrose solution containing 0.05 M sodium glycerophosphate at pH 7.9 The mixture was filtered through layers of gauze and centrifuged at 14,000 x g for 20 min.
