Snap test

The Delvo X-Press and SNAP tests are cost-effective, rapid /1-lactam im-munoreceptor assays developed for the screening of cow s milk before milk intake at the laboratories of the receiving stations. The Beta Screen Test employs a fluorescence endpoint and takes about 10 min per assay, showing a high speci-... [Pg.205]

Periocular skin is particularly delicate and prone to ectropion. After discussing what ectropion is, 1 discuss the risk factors for its occurrence. These include blepharoplasties and previous resurfacing procedures. 1 perform a simple snap test to determine the elasticity of the lower eyelids in patients who wish to reduce the wrinkling in that area. Lower eyelids which quickly return to the normal position after being pulled down may tolerate straight phenol without forming an ectropion. Patients whose eyelids very slowly return to full apposition should not receive phenolic peels of any kind on the lower lids. Loss of elasticity in the lower lid is common following blepharoplasty and in elderly patients. [Pg.157]

The first rule for long belt life is to maintain correct belt tension. Loose belts slip, causing belt and pulley wear. The snapping action of loose belts adds sudden stress and often breaks the belt. To test for tension, press down firmly... [Pg.978]

With some products, particularly snap beans, there may be some reason to question the validity of a negative catalase reaction as a criterion of adequate blanching, especially in the light of the work reported by Bedford and Joslyn (3). In the case of peas, however, it seems to be entirely adequate. There is urgent need for investigation and the development of an adequate method for testing adequacy of blanching in finished products. [Pg.33]

Friction Sensitivity. By friction pendulum, it snaps when tested with a steel shoe (Ref 11). With an ABL-designed sliding friction machine, AP required a sliding dist of 16cm for 50% explns (NO 15cm) (Ref 24, p 20)... [Pg.626]

To use this device, firmly lash the unloaded rifle to a fixed object such as a stake or tree. See Figure 20. Tie a long pull cord or trip wire to the trigger and test the empty weapon once or twice to see that the trigger moves freely when pulled and that the firing pin snaps forward. [Pg.19]

The amphipod Hyperiella takes advantage of Clione s chemical defense. Fish that mistakenly snap up a Hyperiella equipped with a sea butterfly immediately spit the pair out. In a laboratory test, fish ate all the naked Hyperiella presented to them, and of a dozen armed amphipods, they refused ten. In the two cases where they consumed an amphipod initially carrying Clione, the pair came apart in the fish s mouth. The fish swallowed the amphipod but rejected the sea butterfly. Apparently, the amphipod holds its bodyguard tenaciously, or the two would separate more often. [Pg.116]

Three census techniques were used before and after bromethalin treatment in order to estimate control of the rodent population, followed by snap trapping at the end of the test as an additional measure of control. [Pg.55]

There are a number of useful standardized scales to monitor severity and treatment outcomes, (reviewed by Conners [1998] and Barkley [1998]) Because of the overlap with other disorders, an ADHD-specific scale is strongly recommended (such as the Conners, SNAP, Dupaul scales) in which symptom items are based on the DSM criteria and do not include items of other disorders (such as anxiety or mood) or nonspecific functional items. Some ADHD scales provide separate ratings of oppositionality or aggression (SNAP, Conners). It may be helpful to monitor symptoms from non-ADHD conditions as well as functional deficits, and thus a broad-spectrum scale may also be employed but should not be used as the primary measure of ADHD severity or anti-ADHD treatment. Normed rating scales provide comparative information on severity based on age and gender however, such tests are not diagnostic and are not a substitute for the clinical interview. [Pg.448]

Wi th a steel shoe raised to the height of 1 m, spread a 7 g sample of the explosive evenly in and about the grooved portion of the anvil, and allow the shoe to strike the sample with glancing blows until it comes to rest. Clean die anvil and shoe, place another portion of die same expl and continue the test Repeat.test a tot si of 10 times and report the number of snaps, cracklings, ignitions, and/or explosions, if the sample detonates of ter 1 or 2 trials, discontinue the test in Older to prevent damage to the apparatus. Such an explosive is considered os not passing die permissibility test. If the expl remains unaffected In 10 trials with the... [Pg.711]
