The lACs seek to broaden and expedite technology transfer by helping industry find and apply information pertinent to a company s projects or problems. The philosophy behind the lACs is that it is wasteful to "reinvent the wheel," that there is no need to duplicate research already accomplished and thoroughly documented in the data bank. Therefore, taking advantage of lAC services, individual business firms—large and small—save time and profit from research and development already conducted by others. [Pg.69]
