The rheological properties of Slurries are important in many ways. They determine the pumpability of Slurries whether there will be segregation of the solid and liq phases (the solid components of Slurries are almost invariably more dense than the liqs) and, probably most important of all, they control the sensitivity and performance of Slurries. Besides coal properties, a number of other variables also have significant effects on the behavior of CWS, such as coal PSD, the preparation process of the slurry, and the type and volume of chemical additives.
