Never allow slurry to dry on wafers. Strong bonds are formed when slurry dries, making the removal of the slurry nearly impossible. The bonds are formed between the abrasive, the abraded pad, the abraded material, and the wafer. The bond strength is such that even supplementary cleaning steps are insufficient to remove the slurry. [Pg.31]

Fig. 3, Illustration of a contaminated insert due to the slurry dry-out through the wafer notch hole when not cleaned properly after polishing. Each mark was formed after each wafer was polished. These marks can accumulate to cause polish nonuniformity. The processing of natural iron oxide pigments depends on their composition. They are either washed, slurried, dried, ground, or dried immediately and then ground in ball mills, or more often in disintegrators or impact mills. [Pg.84]

Then one end of the star is pasted with an ignition composition as follows Add a 10 celluloid or nitrocellulose solution in acetone(NC paste) to red thermit to form a slurry. Cover one end of the star with the slurry. Dry it well. In addition cover the red thermit with a black powder paste for safety in handling. Paste the star with Japanese paper and then paste a piece of eraarginated kraft paper on the side as shown in Fig.llS and dry it. [Pg.262]

Acid digestion is recommended for the analysis of waste oils from of vehicles. A few jxL of the resulting aqueous leachates can then be pipetted onto Ag powder and the slurries dried and pressed into polyethylene slugs to produce pins that can eventually be submitted to GD-MS analysis for the assay of their Pb contents [658], Determinations can be performed by isotope dilution and concentrations as low as 3 pg/g Pb determined with a precision of better than 5%. GD-MS has also been used for the analysis of crude oils [659] and Cr, Cu, Fe. Mg, Na, Ni, Pb, Si, Sn and Ti can be determined in NIST SRMs, SPEX organometallic standard oils and refined oil composites. The method performs very well for limited amounts of sample, but the polyatomic interferences are a drawback. [Pg.289]

The FGD waste particles entering the calciner would tend to be larger than the fly ash particles because the larger fly ash particles are removed in the 95 efficient ESP leaving only the smaller MO micron) particles. The FGD waste particles, although initially small, tend to coalesce in the spray dryer as the atomized slurry dries. Based on information from the lime-based spray dryer FGD systems, it is estimated that the FGD waste particles will be on the order of 50 microns. If... [Pg.389]

Likewise, the capital investment for the spray dryer MgO process is approximately 7 percent lower than that for the conventional MgO scrubbing process ( 279/kW vs. 299/kW). The conventional MgO scrubbing process has more equipment, and hence larger investment costs, particularly in the areas of chloride purge, slurry drying, and slurry processing equipment which are not needed in the spray dryer-based system. [Pg.394]

Using lots of slurry, particularly if the slurry is not recycled, but discarded, is not only expensive, but the lower temperature reduces the rate at which silicon is removed from the wafer. However, using a very low slurry flow to increase the temperature and therefore the chemical attack rate runs the risk of developing so much heat that the slurry dries, and the silica particles aggregate into scratch-producing sediments. Therefore, as with Goldilocks and the Three Bears one flow is too hot, one is too cold and one is just right . [Pg.168]

It also showed that a simple variation of fabrication properties such as slurry dry content and electrode drying temperature do not influence considerably the cycle performance of the composite silicon-carbon electrode. Therefore, the electrode structure and its mechanical properties should be tailored in order to make its cycle life sufficiently long. Taking into account these factors allowed preparation of... [Pg.260]
