Metrics sludge

In addition to the metrics listed above, I wanted to focus on eliminating sludge. By this I mean getting rid of all of the SKUs on the shelves that should not be there. So I established three separate metrics for sludge  [Pg.494]

Percentage decline in the number of Excess SKUs — SKUs with inventory levels (unintentionally) greater than a 12-week supply. [Pg.495]

Percentage decline in the number of Discounted SKUs with positive inventory levels (i.e., that had not been returned to the manufacturer for credit or other SKUs). [Pg.495]

An overall sludge performance measure was created for each buyer by adding together the three individual metrics for the buyer. There is some overlap with several of the Investment metrics, but I felt that they were important enough that the duplication was more than justified. [Pg.495]

Elevated levels of molybdenum in nonbiological materials have been reported near certain mines, power plants, and oil shale deposits, as well as in various sewage sludges, fertilizers, and agricultural drainwaters (Table 30.1). Molybdenum is concentrated in coal and petroleum, and the burning of these fuels contributes heavily to atmospheric molybdenum (King et al. 1973). Combustion of fossil fuels contributes about 5000 metric tons of molybdenum annually to the atmosphere atmospheric particulates contain about 0.001 pg Mo/m3 air (Goyer 1986). [Pg.1548]

Concentrations of selenium decreased in whole earthworms from 22.4 to 15.0 mg/kg (dry weight) as the rate of sludge application increased from 15 to 60 metric tons/ha. Concentrations of selenium in soil and sludge were 0.3 and 0.5 mg/kg dry weight, respectively. Other studies indicated that some metals, notably cadmium, decreased in worms... [Pg.751]

As of December 1994, there were at least 157 coal-fired boiler imits at 92 power plants with wet scrubbing systems operating. These plants are located in at least 32 states [66,72-75]. Additional scrubbers are planned or under construction in order to achieve compliance with the Clean Air Act requirements. As of 1996, the operating scrubber systems at coal-fired power plants generated approximately 21.4 million metric tons (23.8 million tons) of FGD sludge aimuaUy [71-80]. [Pg.73]

States, processing approximately 20% of the nation s sludge, and producing between 0.45-0.9 million metric tons (0.5-1.0 million tons) of sludge ash on an annual basis [182-190]. [Pg.88]
