Skin priming

TCA, the following classification can be used as a general guideline for TCA peels. It is imperative to keep in mind, however, that the results are dependent on multiple factors including type/thickness of skin, priming of skin, and technique of application of the TCA ... [Pg.38]

Skin priming is necessary to improve peel results and reduce risks of complications. Priming allows an easier and more uniform penetration of the peeling agent. [Pg.202]

Skin priming consists of topical application of compounds, such as retinoic acid 0.05%, glycolic acid 10%, pyruvic acid 7%, and hydroquinone 2-4%, used alone or in combination, for at least 2 weeks before the peel procedure. These agents used in the pre-peel period cause a superficial exfoliation due to keratino-cyte discohesion, and allow a more uniform, rapid, and deeper penetration [11]. [Pg.202]

Skin Models Implicate a Role for Mast Cells in Priming of Adaptive Immune Responses and Allergic Sensitization... [Pg.59]

The role of CD8-I- T cells in atopic skin inflammation is still not well defined. It has been shown that CLA-I-CD8-I- T cells isolated from the circulation are as potent as CLA+CD4-I- T cells in the induction of IgE and enhancement of eosinophil survival. This suggests that these cells have more than bystander functions in atopic dermatitis. Recent data from a mouse model indicate that allergen-primed CD8+ T cells are required for the development of atopic dermati-tis-like lesions in vivo [19]. [Pg.105]
