Fig. 8 shows the output from force and displacement transducers fitted to both punches of an excentric tablet press. The upper punch describes an approximately sinusoidal path as it descends to penetrate the die (point A) and then rises after the compression event has taken place, leaving the die at point B. The lower punch remains motionless during the compression event and then rises to eject the tablet from the die (point C). [Pg.3667]

The woods in which we seek our way is, of course, the chemical industry. The path we seek is that of market development. As we climb our 1968 tree and look back, we note several things. First we see that the path of market development always follows the outermost borders of the woods of the chemical industry. It is a meandering, almost sinusoidal path, wandering frequently into the woods of other industries. [Pg.95]

The small electron deflection allows significant interference to occur between the radiation emitted by a single electron at two successive crests of its sinusoidal path through the periodic magnet. [Pg.121]

II). The backbone follows a sinusoidal path (Fig. 23), with three loops (j8 bends) up and three loops (j8 bends) down, and totally embraces the ion. A more recent crystal structure analysis of the KI3/KI5 complex of valinomycin (Neupert-Laves and Dobler, 1975) confirmed this conformation. [Pg.31]

Figure 1 shows a schematic of the superfinishing of a cylindrical workpiece. The stone follows a sinusoidal path as a result of the worlqiiece rotation combined with the stone oscillation in the workpiece axial direction. The cutting velocity V (m/min) and inclination angle 0 at any point P is calculated with the following equations ... [Pg.1181]

This is the most basic weave of all woven stractures that provides the framework for the tightest and most rigid of all single-layer filter fabrics (see Fig. 3.19). Because of the sinusoidal path that the yams follow, this weave is particularly suitable for flexible yams of the multifilament and short staple-fibre types. The weave is also ideally suited to applications where thread displacement, due for example to high internal pressures, may otherwise be experienced. [Pg.94]

Ions move in a complex sinusoidal path where there are crossover points. Space-charge effects occur at the crossover points of the ion paths when too many ions are present. [Pg.75]

The ions within a QIT follow complex sinusoidal paths, thus there are multiple locations where ion paths cross (Figure 2.22). The density of the ions at a crossover location can reach a level where the ion current distorts the electrical field within the cell, causing space-charge effects that degrade the quality of the data. Consequently,... [Pg.75]

The cross-flow plate pack receives flow from the distributer/coalescer pack. It consists of mutually supportive, inclined plates oriented in a hexagonal configuration. Laminar flow is established and maintained as water flows in a sinusoidal path across the pack from the inlet to the outlet. Oil rises into the top of hexagons and then along the plate s surface to the oil layer that is established at the top of the pack. The sludge slides down the plates and drops into a discreet sludge hopper in the bottom of the separator. [Pg.156]
