Single-crystal X-ray crystallographic

By far the most reliable method to determine the absolute configuration of chiral inorganic and organic compounds is by single-crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis.4 By 1974 Saito listed 59 chiral metal complexes whose absolute stmctures were determined by X-ray diffraction.181 Advances in the speed of computer processing and other aspects of X-ray instrumentation have resulted in the ability to determine absolute structures from much smaller crystals. As a consequence, the number of crystal structure determinations of inorganic compounds has increased enormously in recent years. [Pg.190]

These drawings were generated by D.E. Zacharlas from single-crystal x-ray crystallographic data generated as described in reference 35, J. Clardy unpublished results. Welnstock, J. Wilson, J.W. Novel half-sandwich complexes with divalent Ge, Sn and Pb were obtained from the reaction of CpSnCl with the corresponding metal-14 anion in more than 80% yield (equation 130)153. The single crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis of the compound with... [Pg.703]

Single-crystal X-ray crystallographic studies have been carried out to establish the molecular structures of complexes 18-20. However, in these and many other such complexes, the characteristic patterns of lines in the 31P NMR spectrum resulting from spin-spin coupling between the various types of phosphorus and/or metal nuclei can often be diagnostic for a particular structure. [Pg.118]

Of special interest is the recently described red zero-valent titanium complex [Ti(CO)2(PF3)(dmpe)2] (dmpe = Me2PCH2CH2PMe2) which is a PF3 derivative of the nonexistent titanium carbonyl complex [Ti(CO)7] (365). A single-crystal X-ray crystallographic study has established the structure shown in Fig. 21 in which the geometry around the metal is approximately a capped trigonal prism. [Pg.118]

Single crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis established that the constrained dipeptide mimic 192 (prepared from 189 and 190 via 191) adopts a type II P-tum in the solid state <05TL3733>. [Pg.423]

With the benefit of hindsight, it is instructive to look back at those features of phosphine which excited Chatt s enthusiasm and interest and also indicate how he advanced the field so that their advantages became more widely appreciated by other chemists all over the world. In the late 1930s the absence of spectroscopic techniques for characterising complexes and the extreme difficulty of completing a single crystal X-ray crystallographic analysis because of the phase... [Pg.69]
