Similarity lipophilicity

Carbamazepine, antipyrine, terbutaline, and hydrochlorothiazide were treated as neutral molecules. Their effective permeabilities were corrected for the unstirred water layer using estimated unstirred water layer permeabilities, determined by the other molecules of similar lipophilicities and size. [Pg.216]

They are immiscible with some organic solvents, e.g. alkanes, and, hence, can be used in two-phase systems. Similarly, lipophilic ionic liquids can be used in aqueous biphasic systems. [Pg.155]

The catalysts must supply the system with lipophilic cations in order to form, with required anions, ion pairs able to enter nonpolar media. The most typical catalysts are tetraalkyl ammonium (TAA) salts R4N+X, particularly those having at least 16 carbon atoms in the four R groups. Similar lipophilic catalysts are tetraalkylphosphonium and -arsonium or trialkylsulfonium salts, which are less available and usually less stable. They are therefore of negligible practical use. There are a few reports on the use of trialkylamines as catalysts in some two-phase reactions. Usually these amines are qua-ternized by a reactant actually these reactions are catalyzed by TAA salts. More complicated is the generation of dihalocarbenes with trialkylamines. The amines form, with the carbene, an ammonium ylide, which acts as a base in the organic phase. [Pg.179]

The two single compounds prepared can be seen as a successful validation of the use of NCPS supports, which are complementary to PEG-based soluble supports. This and other similarly lipophilic supports will undoubtedly become more popular for the preparation of combinatorial libraries of small organic molecules. [Pg.400]

As can be seen from these data, all four THMs are of similar lipophilic-ity. Individually and together they facilitate the absorption of hydrophiles dissolved in them. Drinking water contains hundreds of dissolved chemicals in addition to DBPs. It is believed that the spontaneous abortions observed are because of a lipophilic/hydrophilic chemical mixture of DBPs and/or other dissolved chemicals of unknown compositionJ63 ... [Pg.97]

All plasticizers used in this study are commonly used for the application of polymer coatings as well as for matrix systems [31-33,45-47]. TEC is the standard plasticizer for Eudragit RS with a maximum water solubility of 5%, underlining its hydrophilic character. ATBC was chosen due to its structural similarity compared to TEC, but with an increased lipophilic character. The third plasticizer, the double butylated decanedicarboxy acid (DBS), has a similar lipophilic character as ATBC, but the different molecular structure allows for an additional testing of our computational method. [Pg.247]
