Silicone plug

Bacto-tryptone (1 g), bacto-yeast extract (0.5 g) and NaCl (1 g) were dissolved in 95 mL of deionized water and the pH was adjusted to 7.0 with 5 m NaOH. The volume was adjusted to 100 mL with deionized water. A portion of the resulting solution (5 mL) was placed in a 20 mL test tube with a poromeric silicone plug and the rest was placed in a 500 mL Sakaguchi flask with a poromeric silicone plug. The media were sterilized by autoclaving (121 °C, 20 min). [Pg.311]

Acetophenone (608 mg, 5.0 mmol) and freshly prepared G. candidum IFO 5767 (30 g wet wt) were placed in a 500 mL Sakaguchi flask containing 180 mL of distilled water and equipped with a poromeric silicone plug. The mixture was shaken at 130 rpm for 1 day at 30 °C. [Pg.96]

Use of conventional reference electrodes is a limiting factor in reducing the size of the various CHEMFETs. This could be solved by incorporating the reference electrode into the CHEMFET chip. An example of this is the on-chip fabrication of an Ag/AgCl electrode containing a gel-filled cavity sealed with a porous silicon plug [84]. Unfortunately, sensor lifetime can be limited by leakage of the reference solution. [Pg.110]

The two most common types of plugs currently in use are collagen and silicone (Table 14-3). The water-soluble collagen rods are temporary, dissolving 4 to 7 days after insertion. Silicone plugs are more permanent but can be removed when necessary. [Pg.273]

Although rare, punctal occlusion can lead to epiphora, rupture of the punctal ring, pruritus, or canaUcuUtis. Pyogenic granulomas, in response to the presence of silicone plugs, have also been reported in a few patients. [Pg.274]

Faced with a chronic dacryocystitis, the clinician needs to be aware of masquerade syndromes. Epithelial carcinomas and malignant lymphoma have been reported from histologic and immunohistochemical analysis, respectively, of biopsies of the lacrimal sac taken at dacryocystorhinostomy. Rhabdomyosarcoma has also been identified. Displaced silicone plugs have been found as potential vectors for infection not only in the lacrimal sac but also in other areas of the lacrimal drainage route. [Pg.433]

If the product is unstable and must be frozen within a short time after it is filled into its container, then it is possible to load trays of product onto the precooled shelves a half plate at a time. When the product container is a bottle as shown in Figure 12.4, it usually has on the top a silicon plug that is partially introduced into the bottle the solvent vapor leaves the container from the free space between the inserted portion of the plug and the container. After drying and before product discharge, the bottles are stoppered in the drying chamber... [Pg.266]
