Silicon-containing systems

Materials and Chemistry. The assessed database has been designed for use within the composition space associated with the SoG-Si materials. Among the 35 binary silicon-containing systems, the Si-Al, Si-As, Si-B, Si-C, Si-Fe, Si-N, Si-O, Si-P, Si-S, Si-Sb, and Si-Te systems have thermodynamically been reoptimized, primarily based on the assessed experimental information. Since thermodynamic calculations for the impurities in SoG-Si feedstock are normally multidimensional in nature, Gibbs energies of other 36 binary systems have also included in the database.

For all tested systems, the spectrum of adsorbed CO has a.b. with Vco = 2158-2163 cm-i attributed to CO hydrogen-bonded with hydroxyl groups, and a.b. with Vco = 2130-2135 cm-i related with absorption of physisorbed CO. Besides, for all silicon-containing systems, there is a.b. with Vco 2170 cm-i, which was assigned to CO hydrogen-bonded with Bronsted acid sites. Concentrations of these sites estimated from the intensity of ab. with vco 2170 cm-i are listed in Table 4. One may see that concentration of Bronsted sites increases with the silica content in the sample. 

The product also works in non-halogenated systems. It can be used with ATH, MgO, ammonium polyphosphate, silica, silicone polymers or melamine compounds in polyolefins, urethanes, polyamides and others. In the silicon containing systems, Firebrake ZB is understood to form a borosilicate glass at polymer combustion temperatures. 

D. In the case of 5i-methyl groups the band is found near 1255 cm. It can be quite easily identified in silicon-containing systems such as stopcock grease (Figure 2.28). 

Two phosphorus-containing ring systems and one silicon-containing fused heterocycle belonging to the hetero-atomic arrangements of this chapter have been synthesized recently. The synthetic pathways are presented in Scheme 25.
