Sieve residue

When determining carbon black residue on a sieve, the method uses water to transfer carbon black to sieve through funnel. The sieve is then flushed with water from rubber hose. The residue is dried at 125°C and the results presented in ppm. A similar method of determination is described for lime and limestone.  [Pg.237]

Wet Sieving by a Mechanical Flushing Procedure. The sieve residue is the portion of coarse particles that cannot be washed through a specified test sieve with water. The result depends on the mesh size of the sieve. For standards, see Table 1 ( Residue on sieve Mechanical method ). Apparatus Mocker s apparatus. [Pg.17]

Red lead is produced industrially by oxidizing lead monoxide (PbO) at ca. 460 480 °C with agitation in a stream of air for 15-24 h. Most red lead is used in the glass, ceramic, and accumulator industries where an apparent density of < 2 g/mL is adequate. For the paint industry, however, highly dispersed red lead is normally necessary, with a sieve residue of <0.1 % on a 0.063 mm sieve (ISO 787, part 18) and an apparent density of 1.3-2.0 g/mL (ISO 510, DIN 55 516). [Pg.205]

The xylenes (EM Science) were dried over 4 A molecular sieves. Residual water content < 20 pg/mL by Karl Fisher titration. The checkers dried hexanes (Fisher Scientific Company), tetrahydrofuran, and xylenes over 4 A molecular sieves. The checkers did not measure the residual waler content of the solvents. [Pg.60]

Besides CIPAC MT 180, other more general tests like wet sieve residue, pourability and persistent foam are also required. [Pg.265]

The fineness of the pigment is characterized by the maximum particle size (mentioned in the catalogues as sieve residue according to standardized DIN or ASTM testing methods) and the average particle size D50 measured preferably by laser beam diffraction methods. These methods are not yet standardized and the readings depend very much on the equipment and the testing conditions. Furthermore the particle size distribution can be characterized by the "span , i.e. the width of the distribution curve. [Pg.255]
