Side-holes

Turn the flow meter to the lower range and insert it in the side hole on the measuring tube to take readings. Move and turn the sensor slightly to be sure to get the highest reading. Record it. [Pg.68]

The stress rising effect of orthogonal side-holes in high pressure vessels and pipings has been investigated by a number of authors [15] [16] [17] [18] [19] showing that shape factors of around three must be expected depending on the thickness ratio of the wall, the ratio between... [Pg.211]

A channel for Th-FFF is relatively simple. It is usually composed of two metallic blocks (with high heat conductivity, preferably copper) with highly polished even surfaces between which a spacer is clamped. The actual dimensions of the metal block are usually 40-60 cm length, 3-6 cm width and a thickness of 2-3 cm. Electrolytic nickel and chromium plating increases the mechanical and corrosion resistance. In both blocks side holes are drilled into which thermistors, which serve for control and regulation of the temperature of both blocks and thus also of the temperature gradient between the two main channel walls, can be inserted. [Pg.109]

For these particular panels I wanted to have four screws along each edge for a total of 16 screws to hold the structure together. More screws can be used if you wish. To drill the side holes, c-clamp the three components together, with the aluminum sheet on the bottom, the Plexiglass cover on top of that, and the side bars on the very top. [Pg.46]

Drain out the excess liquid in the pipette through the side hole of the stopcock. [Pg.38]

Holes generated in the depletion layer and in the diffusion layer (width L) reach the surface and can contribute to the photocurrent. Holes generated deeper than dsc + L are lost by bulk recombination. Fig. 5. An n-type semiconductor electrode under depletion conditions, illuminated from the electrolyte side. An experimental PHB hole profile generally consists of three parts a sharp zero-phonon hole, a small, broad hole of the phonon side band on the higher energy side, and a broad hole, called pseudo-phonon side hole, on the lower energy side of the laser frequency (Table 2.12 ). The pseudo-phonon side hole results from the overlap of the zero-phonon holes which exhibit phonon side bands at the laser frequency. [Pg.97]

Second, apart from the sharp zero-phonon hole in Fig. 10, there is a broad side hole whose maximum is shifted to the blue compared to the laser frequency. The side hole represents molecular and lattice vibrational transitions which are simultaneously bleached with the pure electronic line. From the relative magnitude of the area under the zero-phonon hole and the side hole, we see that the coupling to vibrational transitions is rather strong, as is expected for states with a considerable amount of charge transfer character. [Pg.245]

Turn a skull-screw in the right-side hole, through the skull (not into the underlying brain). [Pg.245]

Using fine forceps, carefully pluck on the dura mater underneath the left-side hole (under binocular microscope see Note 6). Put a small piece of paper tissue in the hole to stop bleeding, and remove afterward. [Pg.245]

Lower the microdialysis probe through the left-side hole in the skull (under microscope) until its tip just touches the cortex surface. Then lower the probe gently and slowly for another 3.4 mm plus an extra 0.2 mm to compensate the length of the glued membrane tip (see Note 6). [Pg.245]
