Shell and header nozzles

Make a preliminary mechanical design for the vertical thermosyphon reboiler for which the thermal design was done as Example 12.9 in Chapter 12. The inlet liquid nozzle and the steam connections will be 50 mm inside diameter. Flat plate end closures will be used on both headers. The reboiler will be hung from four bracket supports, positioned 0.5 m down from the top tube plate. The shell and tubes will be of semi-killed carbon steel. [Pg.890]

The HCIHX for the HTTP is a vertical helically-coiled counter flow type heat exchanger in which the primary helium gas flows on the shell side and the secondary in the tube side as shown in Fig.2. The major specification is shown in Table 1. The primary helium gas of the maximum 950°C enters the HCIHX through the inner tube In the primary concentric hot gas duct. It is deflected under a hot header and discharged around the heat transfer tubes to transfer primary heat to the secondary cooling system. It flows to the primary circulator via an upper outlet nozzle and returns between the inner and outer shell in order to cool the outer shell. [Pg.166]

Intermediate Units Shell sizes between 20 and 50 inches in diameter can be vented as shown in Figure 13-3. The vent header must be designed as a manifold in order to vent uniformly along the shell length. Total cross-sectional area of the holes should be no more than half that of the half-pipe header. Half-pipe header area must be at least equal to that of the vent nozzle. Perforations should be equally spaced no greater than 3 inches apart. One perforation should be... [Pg.135]
