Shallow wrinkles

HA injections can restore the natural and youthful appearance of the skin. This minimally invasive procedure restores tissue volume, reduces wrinkles, and fills the depressed areas by local absorption. The use of HA as a skin filler became popular in the mid-1980s and, according to the AS APS, it is considered to be the fastest growing, non-invasive, procedure in the United States [17]. Filler HA is a viscous, transparent gel, which can be injected through a small gauge (G) needle, typically of 23-27 G. It provides increased volume and skin hydration due to its hydrophilic nature. Deep wrinkles require a high concentration of HA (approximately 25 mg/ml), while shallow wrinkles are typically treated with a lower concentration (5 mg/ml). HA filler lasts approximately... [Pg.141]

The Taconic mountains rose 480 million years ago, wrinkled under pressure like the hood of a wrecked car, from Maryland to the Gaspe Peninsula of Quebec. The compressed rocks from this mountain-building event are exposed in the Taconic Range of New York, and in eastern Pennsylvania. But by 410 million years ago the peaks that had towered over the east coast had been eroded away, and the sea washed over their exposed roots and covered them with level deposits of limestone. As these mountains wore down, the resulting sediment filled a shallow sea basin running from New York southward to Alabama, in layers up to 1,000 ft (300 m) thick. [Pg.576]

These surface instabihties are either in the form of shallow undulations, wrinkling, or in the form of sharp folds, creasing, which is determined by the linear expansion (a) of the confined film in a solvent. To develop a deeper understanding of the mechanism of wrinkling and creasing surface pattern formation, PHEMA... [Pg.207]

Conventional shirt-sleeve pattern construction allows the arms to be raised and move fieely. However, it can be observed (see Fig 4) that t en the arm is lowered, diagonal wrinkles form towards the under arm. In the illustration (see Fig 5) the shirt-sleeve profile (solid line) is achieved by slashing and spreading the set-in sleeve pattern (dotted line). As the width of the sleeve increases, the underarm is lengthened and the crown becomes shallower, allowing the wearer to move with ease. [Pg.484]

Clinically, microdermabrasion results in a visible brightening of the skin and improvement of surface texture as the superficial skin cells are removed. The appearance of fine wrinkles, shallow acne scars, and hyperpigmentation may also be ameliorated. Although the histopathological effects of microdermabrasion... [Pg.81]

The nuclear membrane is not smooth all the way around the nucleus but is wrinkled or puckered on the side facing the origin of the dendritic tree, the wrinkles vary from a shallow dimple in the surface of the nucleus to a deep and complicated crease with many tributary folds. The irregular depression in the nucleus is stuffed with Nissl substance, forming a prominent basophilic nuclear cap, which both... [Pg.538]
