Sexual stimulation

Sympathetic and parasympathetic nerves innervate the penis. In the flaccid state, OC2-adrenergic receptors mediate tonic contraction of the arterial and corporal smooth muscles. This maintains high penile arterial resistance and a balance exists between blood flow into and out of the corpora. With sexual stimulation, nerve impulses from the brain travel down the spinal cord to the thoracolumbar ganglia.3 A decrease in sympathetic tone and an increase in parasympathetic activity then occurs, causing a net increase in blood flow into the erectile tissue. Erections may also occur as a result of a sacral nerve reflex arc while patients are sleeping (nocturnal erections). 

For the best response, patients must engage in sexual stimulation (foreplay). /For the fastest response, patients should take sildenafil on an empty stomach, at least 2 hours before meals. The other two agents can be taken without regard to meals. 

Following a report that male P. hybneri were attractive to both sexes [99], males were found to produce a mixture containing the sesquiterpene 6-sesquiphellandrene, (R)- 15-hexadecanolide 114, and methyl (Z)-8-hexade-cenoate [100]. Odors from live males were attractive to adults of both sexes, with males also becoming sexually stimulated. Each component alone had some slight activity, with the 3-component blend being the best attractant in laboratory bioassays. The (S)-enantiomer of the macrolide lactone component was not inhibitory. 

Benign prostatic hypertrophy Patients with benign prostatic hypertrophy may develop acute urethral obstruction. Priapism or excessive sexual stimulation may develop. Oligospermia may occur after prolonged administration or excessive dosage.

Sildenafil It is orally active selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase type 5 useful in treatment of erectile dysfunction. It results in reduced breakdown of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) which is responsible for nitric acid (NO) mediated vasodilatation in corpora cavernosa. Thus inducing an erectile response to sexual stimulation. It has no direct relaxant effect on smooth muscle of corpus cavernosa and has no effect in absence of sexual stimulation. 

It could be argued that the whole vast motivational economy of sexual stimulation is based entirely on managing appetite, since orgasm itself is available at will. Because sexual arousal without satiation leads to comparatively minor physical pangs—vesicle engorgement in males and unwanted secretions in females—it seems to be the converse of the appetite for food, which does not support fantasy well and which opens the person to far more intense physical pangs.3... 

From the structure activity point of view, it seems that the methyl group on the indolic 2-position again allows oral activity of something that without it, would not be. Here the parent compound is DMT, and the other examples were 2-Me-DET and 5-MeO-TMT. But of these, 2-Me-DMT seems to be the most free of "negative" side-effects, except for the sound distortion. And for the sexual stimulation, to the occasional shaker manque amongst us who would considered that also as a negative.

Sildenafil increases the release of nitric oxide and increases the levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), a smooth muscle relaxant. The infamous aphrodisiac or passion-stimulator called Spanish Fly is not made of flies, but rather of dried and crushed beetles from several different genera. The resulting powder contains cantharidin, a compound that causes a strong burning sensation when taken orally or if rubbed on the skin. The increased blood flow caused by this irritation can prolong sexual stimulation. Similar effects have been obtained with mixtures of sugar, paprika, ginseng, licorice root, and various peppers.
