Selective Dissemination of Information

Until now we assumed that each query is effected singly. If, however, one would like to receive information on certain topics on a regular basis, it can be carried out by the hosts SDI services. SDI stands for Selective Dissemination of Information. The host processes a fixed search strategy regularly, i.e. according to the database s update intervals. The user will only receive the documents, that have been added since the last update. In many cases the searcher has the opportunity to determine the periods of SDIs. For queries of high topicality with many publications, he will most certainly choose a shorter period than for a search with a restricted amount of publication material. [Pg.136]

Although not discussed here, substantial development has occurred in the development of computer-based algorithms for text information handling systems. These computer-based text information handling systems provide for data base compilation to support traditional printed publication and also the selective dissemination of the information. [Pg.128]

This volume contains papers presented at the first and second IGT symposia on natural gas measuremenL The first program was held on August 26-28,1985 in Chicago to provide a forum for dissemination of information on all aspects of calorific value measurement of natural gas. Bowing to popular demand, however, selected papers on volumetric measurement of natural gas were also included in the second program held April 30-May 2,1986 in Chicago to broaden its scope. [Pg.349]

The Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS), a directorate of AIChE, was established in 1985 to develop and disseminate technical information for use in the prevention of major chemical accidents. The CCPS is supported by a diverse group of industrial sponsors in the chemical process industry and related industries who provide the necessary funding and professional guidance for its projects. The CCPS Technical Steering Committee and the technical subcommittees oversee individual projects selected by CCPS. Professional representatives of the sponsoring companies staff the subcommittees, with a member of the CCPS staff coordinating the activities of the sub-committee. [Pg.226]
