Deficient application, operational error, or system malfunction could potentially affect the manufacture of all the products using the MRP II system. A single medium-sized secondary manufacturing site may have an associated annual drug sales revenue in excess of 1 billion Euros. As with hardwoods, here softwood lumber is sorted at the sawmill into factory or shop grades on the basis that these boards can be recut to yield a certain proportion of smaller pieces of specific quality and size. This lumber provides the basic raw material for many secondary manufacturing operations. 

The CPI require, as input, many basic raw materials from primary farming, petroleum, and mining industries, as well as a vast array of intermediates from secondary manufacturing industries. Within the CPI the inputs are transformed into chemical products by chemical and physical processes. 

Definitions of what constitutes a service have varied across the service sector. Clark (1940) divided all economies into three sectors primary (agricultural), secondary (manufacturing), and tertiary (services). The service sector used three parts—domestic related services (food and lodging), business services, and others (including recreation, health care, and education)— to focus on involvement and improvement of the customer relationship. The services industry provides services, not goods (Hughes, Mitchell, Ramson, 1993). 

Other adhesives such as hot melt adhesives (HMA), poly(vinyl acetate) (PVA, catalyzed or uncatalyzed), pressure-sensitive adhesives (PSA), or elastomeric adhesives (based on natural or synthetic rubbers) are also used in wood bonding (7). However, their use is mostly limited to nonstructural applications (eg, secondary manufacturing processes such as kitchen furniture, interior joinery, decorative paper, and packaging) where strength and water resistance are of limited concern. 

Pharmaceutical companies have high research and development costs to bear. In order to provide these funds, they have to sell their products worldwide, and not just in their home country. Countries often demand that if a pharmaceutical is to be sold in their country, then the company concerned must conduct some manufacture in that country. The result of this is that secondary manufacturing facilities are set up in many foreign countries, with the result that the secondary commissioning activities of large pharmaceutical companies are often done abroad. This is an important factor to bear in mind, as up-to-date knowledge of the construction and operation of pharmaceutical plants with clean room facilities is not present in all foreign countries.
