SEARCH TEXT complexes

The listing of the spectroscopic methods of characterization may be useful if the reader searches for compounds to compare with his or her own results and may also serve as a measure of reliability for the assignment of the complex formula. The comment column indicates special features or points of interest for the complex or sections in the text where the respective compound is discussed in more detail. 

Organoaluminum compounds are heavily used in organic synthesis and the pertinent literature is too extensive to be adequately reviewed here. Readers are directed to excellent articles by Eisch for a general overview of the subject and are encouraged to search for specific transformations in the texts published by March and Larock. The text by Ojima cites several examples of enantioselective reactions using chiral complexes of aluminum. 

Some time between 1100 and 1300, a new mystical system appeared in India. This was Tantrism, a complex blend of naturalism and Hindu and Buddhist ideas. A number of Tantric authors wrote on alchemical topics. By that time, contact with both eastern and western sources of alchemical knowledge was well established, and it is likely that a greater interest in the transmutation of matter and in the search for the elixir of life evident in these outside sources influenced the direction of Tantric studies in alchemy. An early alchemical text by an unknown author from the twelfth century was the Rasarnava (Treatise on Metallic Preparations). 

In view of the wealth of data now obtained for brucine in this example, it may be of interest to the reader to augment this set of results by pursuing the search into a topics database, such as the CAS file. To round off this example, the 3D information on brucine can be obtained from one of the medium-sized databases, such as the CSD file. A substructure search produced 13 examples of brucine complexes, such as the example hown in Table 10. In the CSD file, it is also easy to obtain a list of all of the text and numeric data for the entries (space group, cell parameters, etc.) and the corresponding coordinates for graphical display and computational purposes. 

The advantage of an online search for such a complex topic is demonstrated as an example in Fig. 122 (Sect. 7.3.2.4) and Sect. 9, which shows that Fischer-Tropsch is searchable in the CA file the searcher finds documents with Fischer-Tropsch as part of the text modifications or the abstract texts. But in addition all terms of the just developed search profile should be used to retrieve all relevant documents to this topic. Though the process of selecting relevant search terms is the first essential step for the online search, too.
