How to Use Paint a 10 x 6 piece of plywood bright yellow (use Federal Safety Yellow No. 659 from Rustoleum Company or Saturn Yellow from Day-Glo Colors), then cover it with sticky coating. Below it, hang a small, screen-covered jar filled with a mixture of equal parts ammonia and water, or a commercial apple maggot lure. Instead of a flat piece of plywood, you can paint the bell-shaped top half of a plastic, 2-liter soda bottle. In one study, this bottle trap was found superior to commercial designs for controlling Western cherry fruit flies. [Pg.435]

To catch whitcflies and other pests, paint boards yellow (Federal Safety Yellow No. 6.S9 from Rustoleum Company and Saturn Yellow from Uay-Glo Colors are 2 colors most pests find attractive) before applying homemade or commercial sticky coating. [Pg.439]

In the preparation of Saturn there appears a great variety of different colours and you must expect to observe successively black, grey, white, yellow, red, and all the different intermediate shades. In the same way, the Matter of all the Sages passes through the several varieties of colour, and may be said to change... [Pg.60]

The King shares his royal dignity with noble Venus, and appears in splendid state, surrounded by all the dignitaries of his court. Before him is borne a beautiful crimson banner, in which there is an embroidered representation of Charity in green garments. Saturn is the prefect of the royal household, and in front of him Astronomy bears a black standard, with a representation of Faith in yellow and red garments. [Pg.61]

Then yellow Jnpiter stepped forward, bent his knees, inclined his sceptre, and with great anthority bade them cany out tlie demand of Saturn. He added that he would punish everyone who did not aid the execution of this sentence. Then Mars presented himself, with sword drawn a sword that shone with many colours, and gave ont a beantiful and unwonted splendour. This sword he gave to the warder Vulcan, and bade him slay Merciuy, and bnm him, together with his bones, to ashes. This Vulcan consented to do. [Pg.4]

Jupiter and Uranus are outer planets composed mainly of gases. Jupiter s atmosphere contains reddish-brown clouds of ammonia. Uranus has an atmosphere made up mainly of hydrogen and helium with clouds of water vapor. This combination looks greenish to an outside observer. In addition, Mars has an atmosphere that is 95% carbon dioxide, and Venus has a permanent cloud cover of sulfur dioxide that appears pale yellow to an observer. Mercury has no permanent atmosphere. Saturn has 1 km thick dust and ice rings that orbit the planet. The eight planets in our solar system are diverse, each having different chemical compositions within and surrounding the planets. Out Earth is by far the friendliest planet for human existence. [Pg.75]

The Sun O and the Moon 3 are rendered with gold and silver, while Venus and Mars o provide the copper and iron pigments for the green robe of the angel below the Sun O. Saturn and Jupiter in turn, supply lead-tin yellow for the garment of the angel below the Moon 3. In the middle, Christ s blood and loincloth are painted with the quicksilver-sulphur compound vermiUon, the pigment colour held by the Chinese to represent eternal Hfe. [Pg.19]

But farther out, this sweepstakes has more recent entries. In particular, one other big rock in our solar system has retained a thick atmosphere and liquid oceans on its surface, despite all the physical forces conspiring to remove them. If the three sister planets are primary colors, red, yellow, and blue, this planet-ish rock is a secondary color. It is the mysterious orange moon of Saturn named Titan. [Pg.63]
