Be aware that methods used to increase volatile concentration will affect the volatile ratios however, that may be compromised when simply looking for saturation. These methods do not increase volatility for all compounds, so if no peak-area increase is observed, it could possibly be because the volatile s concentration did not increase in the headspace and not because the fiber is saturated. It is acceptable to use different sampling parameters for testing saturation (e.g., using static sampling for saturation test, while using dynamic sampling for experiment).

If in equation 12 0/, < 1 (AG is negative), CaC03(s) will dissolve if Q/ Ks > 1, CaC03 will precipitate. The saturation test may often be made by simply comparing the activity (or concentration) of an individual reaction component, for example, in equation 12, with the activity (or concentration) this component would have if it were in hypothetical solubility equilibrium. Thus the state of saturation of CaC03(s) may be interpreted in the following way ... 

A modified pycnometer has also been used by Schurecht for the determination of the volume of test specimens. It consists essentially of a wide-mouth cylindrical glass vessel provided with a ground in, hollow stopper which has a tube in its center. The volume of this piece is computed from the relation v — w — wi + h)/8, where V = volume of specimen w = weight of bottle plus liquid in grams Wi = weight of bottle plus liquid plus specimen b = weight of saturated test piece, and 5 = specific gravity of liquid. 

Allow the paste to stand for one hour and conduct the saturation tests there should be no free water on the paste surface. 

Saturation and Intradermal Tests. Ascorbic acid saturation tests, based on observations that subjects with low tissue reserves excreted less of a test dose of vitamin C in the urine than subjects with adequate stores, did not distinguish between varying degrees of deficiency at the lower levels of nutrition. Relatively high plasma levels must be attained before the effect of the renal tubular reabsorption is surpassed and significant excretion occurs (see Section 5). 

At the conclusion of the Medical Research Council study, saturation tests were done on the subjects with long histories of accurately known ascorbic acid intakes. More than three daily test doses (10 mg/kg body weight) were necessary before a sharp rise occurred in urinary ascorbic acid excretion of subjects who had been receiving 20 mg/day or less, but again no distinction could be made in this way between the deficient and the protected individuals receiving the lower amounts. 

In most patients with diffuse PAVMs, improvement of dyspnea, oxygenation, and shunt fraction is not complete [12]. The residual shunt is believed to represent the shunt through small PAVMs [12]. Even if clinical and radiological evaluation is necessary, oxygen saturation tests are equally important to predict recurrence. It is recommended that patients with diffuse or non treated PAVMs be given antibiotic prophylaxis before dental and surgical procedures to avoid seeding of PAVMs and subsequent development of brain abscess.
