Salbutamol syrup

Add item 9 slowly while mixing at low speed. Mix for 30 minutes. 

Makeup the volume up to 1 L with item 10 (25°C) and finally mix for 20 minutes at high speed. 

Assemble the Seitz filter press and wash the filters using about 250 L purified water (25°C) by passing through filters at 0.2 bar.

Orciprenaline is a partially selective adrenoceptor-agonist and hence it is more likely to have effects on the cardiovascular system, such as arrhythmias, than the selective adrenoceptor-agonists, such as salbutamol, terbutaline and the long-acting beta-agonists salmeterol and formoterol. Orciprenaline is available only as tablets or syrup and can be prescribed to 4-year-old children. 

A three year-old boy developed initial hyperglycemia of 10.4 mmol/1 (187 mg/dl) followed by hypoglycemia of 2.5 mmol/1 (45 mg/dl) after the oral ingestion of 57 ml of Ventolin syrup, corresponding to 22.8 mg (1.9 mg/kg) of salbutamol (1052). He was given activated charcoal and intravenous glucose and recovered uneventfully.
