Ruta bracteosa

Rue Oil occurs as a yellow to yellow-amber liquid with a characteristic fatty odor. It is the volatile oil obtained by steam distillation from the fresh blossoming plants Ruta graveolens L., Ruta montana L., or Ruta bracteosa L. (Fam. Rutaceae). It is soluble in most fixed oils and in mineral oil, but it is relatively insoluble in glycerin and in propylene glycol. [Pg.387]

The genus Ruta comprises about fifty species inhabiting the Mediterranean region and Eastern and Central Asia. The oil is distilled from the herb Buta graveolem, yielding the French oU, whilst Algerian oil is distilled from Buta montana, the summer rue, and Buta bracteosa, the winter rue. [Pg.454]

An erect glaucous and nonhairy perennial herb, with a strong disagreeable odor up to about 1 m high native to the Mediterranean region cultivated worldwide (Europe, Africa, Asia, America, etc.).
