The best general history of marijuana is Marihuana The Twelve Thousand Years hy Ernest L Abel (London Plenum Press, 1980). Matiiliana Botany by Robert Connell Clarke (Berkeley, California And/Or Press, 1981) is about the plant itself. It is lavishly illustrated. Cannabis and Culture, edited by Vera Rubin [The Hague, Netherlands Mouton Publisliers, 1975), is a fine collection of articles that looks ai marijuana from various perspectives.
